Is that carpet boost mode switched on? When it is, your machine gets all excited and boosts the suction on carpets, which can also boost the noise level.
Diagnosing the Racket

Component Check 🔍
Let's do a little disassemably party with the side brush, roller brush cover, and roller brush or rag plate. Once they're off, fire up the machine and see if the noise quiets down:- Side Brush Reinstall: Put the side brush back on first. If the strange sounds return, give it a once-over for any warping or damage.
- Rubber Friction: If the side brush is shipshape, it might be the roller brush cover's rubber strip making friction noises against the floor. Give it a few runs to see if it beds in and quiets down.
- Roller Brush Tangle Check: If the noise comes back after the roller brush is back in place, take it off and check for any tangles or threads caught around it. Make sure the cover is properly clicked into place when you put it back on.

- Drive Wheels Spin: Switch off the machine and give those drive wheels a spin. They should rotate freely and spring back when you let go. If they're stuck, it's time for a clean.
