Introduction
Hey there! Setting up your Dreame robot vacuum can sometimes come with challenges, especially when it comes to connecting to your WiFi network. This FAQ provides a detailed guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve issues related to connecting your device to your WiFi.
Troubleshooting
Error 1: Failed in first step
1. Please avoid configuring the network on multiple phones at the same time.
2. Please check if the device's hotspot is on. You can return to the "Device Reset" page and reset the device according to the text prompts. The hotspot will be automatically turned on.
3. If the above steps are not working, please use one mobile phone to release the hotspot, then use another phone to connect to the hotspot as wifi, and then try to connect the robot with the app to see if it can be connected successfully. If yes, there may be a problem with the wifi. If not, there may be a hardware issue.
Error 2: Failed in second step
1. Please check if the "location permission" of the Dreamehome app has been enabled. You can find the corresponding app on the phone's "settings" page and enter to enable it.
2. Please check if the "local network" permission of the Dreamehome app has been enabled. You can find the corresponding app on the phone's "settings" page and enter to enable it.
3. Please check if the version of the Dreamhome app is the latest version.
4. If the above steps are not working, please use one mobile phone to release the hotspot, then use another phone to connect to the hotspot as wifi, and then try to connect the robot with the app to see if it can be connected successfully. If yes, there may be a problem with the wifi. If not, there may be a hardware issue.
Error 3: Failed in last step
1. If a dual-band router is used at home and the router emits two different Wi-Fi hotspot names, please ignore the 5G band Wi-Fi hotspot signal on the phone and make sure the phone is connected to the 2.4G hotspot.
2. Please check if the input Wi-Fi network name and password are correct. If there are any errors, please modify them in time.
3. It is recommended to use a combination of English letters and numbers for the network name and password and avoid using special characters and Chinese.
4. Please check if the router is set to "not allow other devices to join" or have MAC address blocking. It is recommended to reset the settings and configure the network again.
5. Networking does not support VPNs or proxy servers.
6. Networks that require web authentication and authentication are not supported.
7. The device does not support routers with hidden hotspot names. The Wi-Fi hotspot name must be visible and recognizable by the phone to be successfully connected.
8. If the above steps are not working, please use one mobile phone to release the hotspot, then use another phone to connect to the hotspot as wifi, and then try to connect the robot with the app to see if it can be connected successfully. If yes, there may be a problem with the wifi. If not, there may be a hardware issue.
Error 4: Failed to connect to the EMQ server
1. Ensure that your phone and the robot are connected to the same 2.4G WiFi network.
2. There may be an issue with DNS resolution. You can change the DNS setting to a public DNS, such as 8.8.8.8, and then restart both the robot and the router.
3. Contact your local internet service provider to check the network status.
Error 5: Cannot find the robot hotspot.
1. Make sure the network configuration device is close to the robot.
2. Confirm that the robot is powered on and press the robot's button to enter network configuration mode.
3. Check the Wi-Fi settings of the network configuration device to ensure it is turned on.
4. Follow the prompts to find the corresponding robot hotspot and see if you can find a Wi-Fi name similar to "Vacuum."
5. Reset the robot and then try the network configuration process again.
Note: How to distinguish between 2.4G and 5G WiFi?
1. **Identify by WiFi Name**: For example, look for names like "WIFI_2.4G" or "WIFI_5G."
2. **Check on Mobile**: Go to Settings -> WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) -> Tap on the details of the connected WiFi on the right side; check the frequency band.
3. **Check on Computer**: Go to Settings -> Network and Internet -> WLAN -> Click on the connected network and check the frequency band.
4. **Check in Router Backend**: Log into the router's backend and look for wireless settings to view the frequency.
Our robot vacuum only supports 2.4G, so it is recommended to turn off dual-band merging.
