"We strongly recommend that you remove the old strike plate from the door frame before installation and replace it with the new strike plate included in our kit.
Why failing to remove the old strike plate may cause problems:
- The cutout dimensions of the old strike plate may not match our latch, causing the latch to be blocked by the edge of the strike plate when it extends, preventing it from fully extending or retracting.
- This will prevent the lock from locking or unlocking properly and may cause an error beep.
- Even if installation is forced through, long-term use may accelerate wear due to friction between the latch and the strike plate.
Installation Recommendations:
1. After removing the old lock, check whether the strike plate on the door frame is the original one.
2. If the cutout on the old strike plate is smaller than the one in our kit, be sure to remove the old strike plate.
3. Use the strike plate and screws provided in the package for installation.
4. After installation, please verify: Close the door, turn the knob from the inside to lock it, and confirm that the latch extends fully without any sticking.
5. Unlock the door from the outside using a fingerprint or passcode, and confirm that the latch retracts fully and the door opens smoothly.
If your door frame has non-standard dimensions, please contact customer service for installation guidance."
