Possible reasons for incomplete robot mapping:
- There are objects at the doorway of a room, or the door is not fully open. As a result, when the robot's LiDAR scans the entrance, it may misjudge it as impassable and give up entering that area.
- During the scanning and mapping process, people or pets move around the robot, which can mislead the environmental scan results and cause incomplete mapping.
- If there are floor‑to‑ceiling glass windows, the LiDAR may scan through the glass due to its transparency and detect areas outside the window while the device is mapping.
If you encounter incomplete mapping, you can follow the guidelines below to remap:
Open the doors to all rooms in the area to be mapped, and remove any obstructions near the doorways so that the robot can enter each room smoothly for mapping.
Clear away any clutter on the floor in the area to be mapped.
During the mapping process, minimize foot traffic and keep pets away to prevent interference from moving objects that could block the LiDAR signals.
- If there are floor‑to‑ceiling windows, draw the curtains or use other coverings to block them, so that the robot does not mistakenly recognize areas outside the windows.
Special note: The robot rescan and optimizes the map every time it performs a cleaning task. If there are items in the room that cannot be moved or have not been cleared in time during mapping, the robot will automatically optimize the map after the items are removed and the robot runs a cleaning task.
